Take a second look at Matt’s photo, because he is perhaps one of the most interesting people you’ll ever meet! Matt is in love with history and convenes with re-enactment participants from all over the country to learn about and pay homage to life during the fur trading days. While participating in Rendezvous, Matt lives in primitive tents and offers visitors insight into the lifestyles of the time period by practicing ancient arts like blacksmithing, pottery, fiddling, longbow making, basket weaving, bead-working, knife and tomahawk throwing, and black powder rifle shooting.

Matt shares his passion for Mountain People of the early 1800's with others through his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. He leads events for junior high school age youth to keep them involved with the scouting organization. Matt chose to work with this particular age group because he describes it as, “a formative period where kids are vulnerable to entanglement with drugs and other dangerous lifestyle choices.” Matt leads by example in teaching youth that it’s cool to be wholesome and get back to nature.

Matt’s favorite part of his work with ABC Humane Wildlife Control are the times when he puts on waders and fjords a stream or pond to check beaver dams and lodges. Weighing up to 90 lbs., a male beaver gave Matt a real scare when it swam right between his knees while he was inspecting a lodge.

Matt is a shining star on our team and will accomplish great things with our company!
