Solving complex animal problems by looking for clues is Justin’s favorite part of his job. A skilled tracker, he excels at identifying animals by their prints, fur and scat. Although snakes are Justin’s specialty and he hopes to see Illinois’ rare massasauga rattlesnake in the wild, most of the snake calls that ABC Humane Wildlife Control responds to are for the common garter snake.
Born in a small rural town in the mountains of Colorado, Justin’s enthusiasm for the outdoors began at an early age. After moving to Illinois at age 10, he grew up surrounded by numerous pets including hamsters, rabbits, cats, dogs, snakes, and lizards. Through his everyday experience in caring for these household pets, he acquired considerable knowledge of animal behavior as well as a desire to learn more about nature.
Science was Justin’s favorite class throughout school, so it’s no surprise that he achieved a record high score on the Wildlife Exam when he joined our company. However, science isn’t Justin’s only talent, he also finds relaxation in the steady hand needed to create intricate carvings. At our annual Halloween party, Justin applied his artistic gift to take 1st prize in our pumpkin-carving contest.
Although his artwork takes a slow and deliberate hand, Justin enjoys a speedier pace with the wind in his hair when he drives his sleek black Camero. In his free time, he enjoys fishing with friends in his recently purchased fishing boat.
Justin is terrific and much appreciated on our team!
