Once we
capture the animal, we reset and re-bait the trap, and place a temporary indicator over the hole. An indicator is a piece of cardboard that we place over the hole so that when it is broken, scratched, or torn, we know there is an
animal present. If this indicator remains unbroken for 3 days, we know that there are no more animals. On the other hand, if the indicator is broken, we must continue trapping until all of the animals are removed.
What about the holes or damage they have done to my attic?
We are happy to patch up the holes the raccoons have made. We also can screen up your attic fan and give you an attic fan guard that will stop raccoons
from entering your attic through the attic fan. Raccoons also see chimneys as warm homes to live in too. We can install a chimney cap so they will not make a home in your chimney.
Now that you have trapped and
relocated the raccoons that were in my attic, what can you do about the smell they leave behind?
Animals such as raccoons and squirrels mark their territory with urine, which is where the odor comes from. This
urine also contains pheromones, the sex attractant smells that other animals use to identify and follow one another. For this, we will apply our enzyme/odor treatment.
How does the treatment work? Does it only mask the odor?
The enzyme/odor treatment is an enzyme-based formula that eliminates odor and sanitizes. The liquid treatment is sprayed over an area and is not designed to
cover up an odor; instead, the naturally occurring enzyme goes to work on chemically changing the source of the odor by breaking it down. The treatment is effective in removing smells that humans can detect, but more importantly
the treatment will dissolve and eliminate pheromones. When we apply our treatment it "erases" these scent trails that other animals might follow when searching for a mate, a new home, or a food source. By "erasing" the
trails you are no more or less likely to have another problem than anyone else on your block.
What might happen if we choose not to apply the treatment?
If you allow the problem to go untreated you
may find yourself with more animal pests as time goes on. Almost as importantly as eliminating that scent trail is the fact that the treatment will also sanitize the area that has been treated.
Does this treatment kill bugs too?
Treated areas will not support fly larva. Though this will help with the problem, we do have another treatment specifically focuses on the prevention of insect infestation.
Squirrels, raccoons, and other wild animals carry ecto-parasites, which are insects such as fleas, ticks, mites, or lice that live off of warm-blooded animals. Our flea treatment removes ecto-parasites. Wild animals are capable of
transporting these insects into attics, and under decks or porches. The parasites are then capable of using you, your children, or your pets as their new hosts. They carry many diseases and pose a health hazard.
How does the flea treatment work, and when is it applied to an infected area?
We will apply a lasting treatment that kills these ecto-parasites and any that may hatch in the future. Quite often the treatment is
applied at the beginning of a job to allow the animal to track through the treatment and carry it on its fur wherever it goes. The treatment can be applied at any time during our service; the technician will recommend the
appropriate time for application.
How safe are the enzyme/odor and flea treatments?
Our treatments are USDA approved and are guaranteed harmless to humans, pets and plants. The treatments do not
pose a problem for people with allergies.
